Connections through music (and Food)

Elly Franchimont.

Sharing song and sharing food together are two of the most healthy and joyful things in life. I love being part of both and this is how I do it...

I live in a small rural community on the mid north coast of NSW Australia where I conduct community choirs, Bella Bago choir and Out of the Shower choir. I also formed an a capella group that I sing with called Wednesday. I regularly invite some of the best contemporary choral conductors from Australia, the USA, Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa and the UK to conduct singing workshops in my community and I connect with community choirs in other countries through organising overseas singing holidays.

I started my singing career in the early 80s and am now a much loved and seasoned performer of many musical styles ranging from Eastern European Folk to Rock & Roll, Blues, Gospel and Jazz. I perform regularly as a vocalist with Jazz ensembles and duos.

I am passionate about my local rural community. Some of the best produce in the world is grown right here in the Hastings. I coordinate the Hastings Farmers’ Market, creating a place for the local farmers to sell their produce to their own community. In doing so, the carbon footprint is kept small and the food people buy is beautifully fresh and healthy. And ... sometimes my choirs perform at the market.
